The Scottish Government is proposing to introduce a new Human Rights Bill for Scotland. This would incorporate four international human rights treaties, alongside the right to a healthy environment. They have just opened a consultation on these proposals, gathering the views of the public in Scotland.

We want to make sure that LGBTI+ voices are heard, and our experiences are understood. To do this, we have just launched a nationwide survey asking about your experiences of being LGBTI+ in Scotland and relating this to the human rights enshrined within ICESCR (one of the treaties they are proposing to incorporate).

ICESCR covers many fundamental and important rights. These include the right to an adequate standard of living, including housing, food, and clothing; to the highest attainable standards of physical and mental health; to education; and to cultural life. Our survey asks questions around these rights, and by answering it, you will help inform our consultation response to the Scottish Government’s plans. This will help to protect and promote the human rights of LGBTI+ people.
